Our Database
We currently feature 49 carefully researched dream symbols spanning five major categories: Animals (snake, spider, dog, cat, fish, bird, horse, lion, bear, rat), People (death, baby, stranger, ex-partner, mother, father, child, crowd, celebrity), Situations (flying, falling, being chased, naked, lost, drowning, exam, late, trapped, paralyzed), Objects (teeth, car, house, money, phone, keys, blood, food, mirror, clothes), and Natural phenomena (water, fire, flood, earthquake, storm, rainbow, moon, sun, snow, ocean). Each symbol is presented in 14 languages, making dream wisdom accessible to a global audience.
Our Methodology
Our interpretation approach synthesizes three major traditions: (1) Jungian analytical psychology, which views dreams as messages from the collective unconscious and emphasizes symbol archetypes; (2) Cross-cultural dream interpretation, drawing from Chinese Zhou Gong Dream Dictionary, Japanese Yume-uranai, Native American vision traditions, Hindu Swapna Shastra, and Islamic dream interpretation; (3) Modern sleep science and neuroscience research on REM sleep, memory consolidation, and emotional processing during dreaming.
Who We Are
DreamMean was created by a team of passionate researchers and developers who believe that dreams are not random neural firings but meaningful communications from our deeper selves. Our content is written by dream researchers and reviewed for cultural accuracy. We are committed to providing free, high-quality dream interpretation tools without paywalls, registration requirements, or data collection.
Our Philosophy
We believe every dream carries a message. Whether it's a recurring nightmare, a puzzling symbol, or a vivid adventure, your dreams reflect your inner world — your fears, hopes, unresolved conflicts, and creative potential. Our role is not to tell you definitively what your dream "means" but to provide a rich framework of possibilities that empowers you to find your own interpretation. The most accurate dream interpreter is always the dreamer themselves.
